Bridgestone’s ‘I’ve been everywhere’ Road Trip
Flogging tyres isn’t the easiest job in the world; we all need them – at intervals far too regular than we’d like – but buyers tend to fall in to two camps – those who know a brand and ask for it by name, and those that have put on their car whatever the man at Kwik Fit is pushing this week. So ‘Brand Awareness’ is the name of the game (a game that can backfire – just ask Pirelli what’s going on in F1) and the more potential buyers a tyre brand can lodge its name in the brain of, the better. Which is why Bridgestone are running their We’ve been everywhere interactive campaign which very cleverly plots the escape of one man from office drudgery and showcases his journey out in to the proper world, all to a soundtrack of Johnny Cash’s ‘I’ve been everywhere’.
I’m not too sure it will help much with sales at the moment, but it has been announced that Aston Martin are to become the first company to use Microsoft’s Surface Device in UK Car showrooms. The Surface device is in essence a glitzy coffee table, with a built in PC running the new software from Microsoft. Based on the software Aston Martin currently uses on its website, the device allows the salesman to configure the car on a coffee table screen, with changes of colour and wheels showing on the screen.

There really is nothing very new from Jaguar with this release, save to confirm a number of details on the new Jaguar XJ which you will already be aware of if you read here regularly. But Mike O’Driscoll (MD of Jaguar Cars), speaking at the Shanghai Motor Show this morning, confirmed what we’ve already told you – that the new XJ will be revealed in full on 9th July. The new Jaguar XJ will come with all the Gen III engines in the JLR tool box.
